** Library services and details may change as the borough’s response to COVID-19 changes.

The library is housed in the local school building, a location that is a hub of activity and traffic within our small rural community. Our top priority and goal is to keep our community members healthy and safe. As a community organization that touches the lives of so many patrons, most of our decisions will err on the side of caution. Thank you for your patience and support.

Why are we required to wear masks in the library?

The school is requiring masks from students and staff, and because the library is in the building which is maintained by the school we fall under the school/library use agreement. Because we agreed in writing that the school dictates the facility use, we will follow their mask guidelines.

Why are the physical stacks temporarily closed to patrons?

Regardless of each Library Board member’s personal viewpoints, we recognize that we are a public entity dealing directly with community members. Because a high percentage of community members are following state and school district suggestions regarding COVID-19, it makes most sense to limit any unnecessary exposure to communal areas of the library. While we as patrons of the library tend to love books and would rather walk among the stacks and browse our books, at this time it is an unnecessary luxury since we have other procedures in place that allow patrons to access the card catalog online and request book pickup via our library staff. This is a temporary measure and will be adjusted as needed.
